Prince almost done

It took a while to finish him up but it looks like that my take on a Daemon Prince is about to get done. The base is scratch built by myself and there is a couple of pictures of the progression on my Instagram. Feel free to check them out!

Ready for the next step

Today I painted the leftover backpacks. I also did some details in metallic paints, which honestly felt like a reward. So shiny! For the metal detailing I used Vallejo Model Color Silver (70997) and Vallejo Game Color Brassy Brass (72058).

The next step will have me use the airbrush again. Can’t wait!

Two squads of Plague Marines

I have now reached the point where I am ready to start up the painting process of my Plague Marines – yey! They still lack their shoulder pads and the two Plague Champions haven’t got their weapons yet, but I will sort that out later. The pads aren’t going to have the same colour as the rest of the armour anyway and the weapons should be easy to match with the rest of the models once they arrive from Anvil Industry. By the way, Anvil Industry have some pretty cool bitz – and more – and I recommend you to pay them a visit at https://anvilindustry.co.uk/.

First Blood

Like most hobbyists know using sharp knives tend to lead into small – but nasty – cuts every now and then. Tonight I draw first blood scratching off mold lines from my upcoming Plague Marines.

Back in 1977 Marvel Comics published a special KISS comic in full colour, presenting the band as superheroes. Blood from each band member was drawn by a nurse and poured into the vats of red ink. That ink was then used in the print of said comic.

Should I do the same? I could poor a little of my blood into the paint I am going to use to paint the red eyes. Well, I probably should not. But you have to agree with that it would be pretty cool?

I admit progress has been somewhat slow but the two squads should be modelled in a day or so, not counting the shoulder pads which have yet to arrive.

ALEX moved in

Since I ran out of stuff to do with my upcoming 40K-army – I am simply out of miniatures at the moment – I have been looking for other things to take care of. During the past days I have been working hard on organizing my dedicated hobby work area. Living in the country where every reasonably sized town has an IKEA-warehouse has its advantages. I got myself a drawer on casters named ALEX (502.649.27). I bought the grey one which I think fits in perfectly. The plan is to store all, or at least most of, my paints in it for easy access. The pots from Citadel fitted in perfectly but I have yet to find a solution for the ones from Vallejo. Maybe I will have those on a shelf or something, we will see. Anyway, I am very pleased with how it all turned out.

The featured image shows Ingvar Kamprad, who founded IKEA back in 1943.

To Skövde and back again

For the larger part of the last week I have been to my former hometown Skövde. It was awesome meeting up with family and old friends, eating great food and even look at stars falling from the sky. Obviously I took the time to visit a couple of stores as well.

Game Maniacs in Lidköping has a huge portion of tabletop games and miniatures. They don’t just sell GW-stuff but all kinds of board games. This time I managed to leave their store without actually buying anything, nevertheless it was nice to check out their shelves.

Habo Hobby in Habo offers pretty much anything any train hobbyist could ever wish for, and more. They display a lot of stuff in their shop which I find very nice. I bought some basing materials I will use in the upcoming army of mine.

Back home in Gävle I paid my favourite local gaming store, HobbyShopen, a visit and finally got myself some of that sweet plastic drug we all crave for. Now I have one box of Dark Angels Company Veterans Squad, and two more on the way. These sets will hopefully serve me well in the conversions and kit bashing I need to do to get where I want.

Deathwatch is here

Hear hear! Deathwatch just got themselves a codex and other cool stuff. Check the new releases out at the official pages of Games Workshop. That limited edition Codex: Deathwatch Watch Fortress Edition looks damn sexy! I bet the 1 000 copies will sell out fast, like the usually do… You want it? Get it. No doubt some will end up at double price on eBay shortly.

Suffer not the alien to live.

The elite amongst the elite, carefully selected and recruited for their exceptional abilities, the Deathwatch are a thin black line, a sentinel that stands between the Imperium and alien threats unimaginable. Always outnumbered – such is the staggering scale of the hordes they face – this noble brotherhood has stood stout against countless invasions, and will face countless more.

Organised into small, elite companies plucked from Space Marine Chapters that have pledged a tithe of their strength in the struggle against the alien, the Deathwatch counts only heroes amongst its ranks. Each member has been hailed as an expert in his field even before his training as a Deathwatch operator has begun. His armour painted the blackest of hues, his Chapter icon intact upon his pauldron as a mark of respect to the Chapter that made him, the Deathwatch Space Marine and his highly-specialised Kill Team descend to the edge of destruction, there to repel whatever dire threat they face.

New list with zombies

Time has come for me to dust off the old paints and brushes. A friend of mine talked me into getting back to the hobby, and to be honest I have missed it.

As always I had trouble with deciding what force to go with but the Lord of Decay surely calls for me. I’ve decided to go with some kind of a zombie-list, backed up by a couple of fellows wearing power armour. Let us hope it turns out fun to play with, and against. I would love to win a couple of games but I am not very into the whole cookie cutting business.

For the minis I am currently looking for zombies. I am thinking of going Imperial Guard (or whatever they are called these days?) mixed up with some undead bitz. Not very unique, I guess, but they look good and make sense fluffwize. The marines will likely be kit bashed out of parts from Death Guard as well as other sources. I love the idea of robes so I will have to look that up. The HQ will come out of the Calas Typhon figure.

Wish me luck and come back later for further updates. Please leave your comments and thoughts bellow.
